Scientists have managed to grow artificial chocolate that tastes exactly like natural chocolate, without any additives or fillers. The breakthrough was achieved thanks to the collaboration of Belgian food giant Puratos and California Cultured, a startup that aims to solve the problem of the high cost of real chocolate.
Scientists selected the best cocoa plants with maximum taste and aroma, took their cells and placed them in special tanks with a nutrient medium. The result is finished chocolate that imitates the original. It is planned that the ambitious factory for the production of such chocolate will start operating by the end of 2026, and the team is currently obtaining the necessary permits and preparing for launch.
If the project is successful, it could change the chocolate market, making a quality product more affordable while preserving the real taste.
